Snake charming community fights for Community Certificate more than 20 years.
A Nomadic tribal community Kattu Nayakkar who rely on catching snakes and snake charming for their livelihood.
This community is residing at Sivagangai district, Manamadurai, burma colony(near railway station) with around 50 families.
Many youngsters have come out with as first generation to hold degree. But many moving to labour work.
Discontinue of Schooling and college are higher rate in this community due to poverty.
They demand for Community Certificate
“ST – Kattu Nayakar”
This People believe in identity and certificate could uplift them from current pathetic situation.
This government could verify their culture, language, lifestyle, history with the community and based on the results officials can issue the ST community certificate. If these could be done in wartime terms.
For livelihood: These people are expert in catching snakes and can be involved in snake rescue with Tamilnadu Forest / Fire department. They could be appointed as frontline employees who could serve for this country.
The initiation to get Community Certificate for this people has been leaded by Nomadic Tribal Welfare association Mrs. Maheshwari the founder, Mr. Murugan head and Madurai veeran secretary.
